What is the Human Design Profile? Let’s simplify it and give a brief overview of just 2 out of the possible 12.
If you’re unsure what the Human Design System is, you can find a simple explanation on my previous post - Mother and Child Human Design Mini Reading.
Have you explored the Human Design System? There’s a lot of FREE information on the internet to explore about your personal chart. You can get your free Human Design chart from MyBodyGraph.com or GeneticMatrix.com among other places.
Human Design Profile Defined
Within the Human Design System, there are 12 potential Profiles. Each composed of a combination of two out of the six Profile lines. These Profile lines are associated with the hexagrams of the I’Ching. They determine your specific Profile based on the unique combination, as indicated in your BodyGraph. This is based on the exact time, date, and location of your birth.
Character traits described by our Profile in the Human Design System serve as the symbolic costume of our purpose. This costume is something we gradually embody.
Furthermore, living in alignment with our Strategy and inner Authority, we find comfort in embracing our true role. It also helps when we undergo the de-conditioning process from societal pressures.
Alternatively, resistance to our authenticity could lead to discomfort resulting in living in our Not-Self.
The Not-Self is a term that is used for living with a mask, not living as our true authentic self.
Nevertheless, our actions, expressions, and interactions are influenced by two defining traits. One originates from our personality conscious side. Represented by the black gates on the right column of our chart. The other arises from our design subconscious side. Visible as the red gates on the left column of our chart.
The Profile Numbers
Beginning with the numbers associated with each Center, represented by the colored and white shapes on our Bodygraph. These are known as Gates which correspond to our Gene Keys. Holding the potential for unlocking our higher purpose hidden within our DNA. Remember that the Profile numbers correlate with the I’Ching Hexagram.
Next, we have what are called Hanging Gates. They refer to the presence of red, black, or both red and black colors connected to a numbered Gate within a Center. When two Gates connect, they form a Channel. And Channels are what defines each of the two Centers.
Finally, onto finding the Profile numbers. These are located on the first line of each side in the rows of numbers surrounding our BodyGraph. In the photo, you see that the first line, in black, is 61.2. The first line, in red, is 32.4. Thus, this Profile is identified as 2/4. The number preceding the decimal point represents a Gate.
Our Profile is an influential factor in our genetic design. However, it is crucial to remember the significance of following our own Strategy and inner Authority. The Profile is just one aspect of our unique genetic design.
The following is a brief overview of some of the characteristics of a couple different Profiles.
2/4 Human Design Profile:
First is our 2/4 Profile. Also known as the Hermit/Opportunist. This combines the qualities of the Hermit (2nd line) and the Opportunist (4th line).
Some of the qualities for individuals with this Profile:
Naturally gifted and possess innate talents and genius.
Have a built-in barrier (limited point of view at times) that protects their unique genius from external influences.
Called out by others to share gifts and talents.
The right call from the right person can lead to profound transformations.
Constantly being called out can cause stress, fatigue, burnout, and exhaustion.
Prefers solitude and doing their own thing.
Prioritizes having a pleasant environment.
Arrangement of things are important to them.
Delicate balance between sharing talents and maintaining inner sanctuary.
By the way, this is my Profile. I often relate this Profile to being what is known as an introverted extrovert.
For comparison purposes, I want to share one more Profile out of the potential 12.
5/1 Human Design Profile:
Second is our 5/1 Profile. Also known as the Heretic/Investigator. Combines the qualities of the Heretic (5th line) and the Investigator (1st line).
Some of the qualities for individuals with this Profile:
Have a strong desire to make themselves personally attractive for universal impact.
Seeks seduction from a partner that entices them.
Carries a certain air of mystery, few people truly know them.
Their aura attracts those in need or crisis, leading to projections of potential powers or savior expectations.
Excels in providing practical solutions during crisis situations.
Timing is crucial to avoid damaging their reputation.
Driven to investigate the foundations of life and understand how things work.
Introspective nature, often engaged in studying and research.
Adaptive and capable of changing their colors, metaphorically speaking, to blend in with their surroundings.
Emphasizes the importance of Strategy and inner Authority in determining the correct situations to step into and provide solutions.
In summary, the 2/4 Profile revolves around sharing innate talents yet preferring solitude. The 5/1 Profile has radical solutions during crises and driven to investigate.

Oh wow! I resonate very much with the 2/4 profile! Thank you for writing about this! It looks like there would be quite a learning curve for me to learn more about this. So I thank you for putting your newsletters together to explain it a bit at a time. The graphic was helpful, too.
